Ethical Considerations for EBP
My understanding of the nurses contribution to ethical conduct of research and implementation of research findings has not changed since completing the ethics assignments. I still hold true to the belief that conduction of research and implementation of those findings centers primarily around the clients right and beneficence to the client in order to create a higher quality patient care experience. It is important for nurses to know the historical evolution and principles of research ethics so that they know what to look for f those ethical principles are being violated when it comes to the clients experience. Our role as client advocates is to speak out and act if their ethical rights are being violated, especially when it comes to research. I now feel like I am able to contribute to the conduction of research, quality improvement and evidence practice initiatives because I am aware of what the processes look like. If I know what the processes look like, I also know the resources that are available to me in the hospital setting to allow me to fulfill the parameters of those quality improvement and evidence based practice initiatives.
