Planning the Journey
This team project will be completed through collaboration with one another, as well as working to understand each others point of view when brainstorming ideas, scheduling time to work on the project and fulfilling weekly deadlines. The project will be completed slowly over the course of weeks, and added to as we learn more information throughout the course of the Evidence Based Practice class. At the moment, we believe that we want to go the route of an idea pertaining to therapy animals and their positive effect in some capacity on adult and pediatric oncology clients. It will involve the incorporation of our critical thinking, what we learned in class as well as many hours of research using reputable sources to complete this project.
Our communication plan is to communicate via text message regarding due dates, when to meet to complete work on the project, in person meetings, class time and scheduling zoom meetings if people in the group cannot meet in person at the time. We will work to respect one another’s time and be understanding should someone have to complete other work at the time that we wish to meet, as well as in regards to clinical rotations. To hold each other accountable, we will check in individually with each group member in person or via text message to ensure that they completed the work that is due before the due date.
In terms of conflict management, if a team member is not fully participating in the assignment, we will discuss with them the barriers as to why they are not participating. We will address those barriers, and work together to overcome them. A similar approach will be taken in regards to those that do not complete their work on time. If the person is going through a difficult week or is having trouble with an area of their life we will be understanding and assign less work to them in the future. Later on however, we would expect them to make up for failing to complete their work through the completion of a little more of the work. Poor quality work will be reviewed and revised to make it of sufficient quality by the group. If the person in question continues to produce poor quality work, they will be confronted in a professional manner as to why that is occurring.
Some benefits to completing this collaborative project as a team would be to learn how to work in a group setting with other nurses in an improved and professional manner, just as they would work together in a hospital setting. This would be useful in future nursing practice because it would provide me with a good idea about how to conduct evidence based practice within the hospital setting alongside other nurses.
